Great Basin Bird Observatory’s January Lecture Series: Birds and Bugs in the High Mountains: How Extreme Climate Affects Insect Abundance and Chickadee Reproduction

January 24 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Lauren Whitenack will present in person and GBBO will host and provide snacks. We will also have a fun bird trivia challenge!

Lauren Whitenack is a PhD student at UNR studying mountain chickadees in the northern Sierra Nevada mountains. She investigates the relationships between climate, insect abundance, and bird reproduction, as insects are the main food source for many birds during the breeding season. Come learn what she has discovered over the last 2 years of insect sampling and monitoring mountain chickadees in nest boxes!

In-person attendees: RSVP to outreach@gbbo.org
